The ProCo RAT2 is one of the most versatile distortion pedals ever made. Its unique Filter control works backward from most EQ pedals — turning it clockwise removes treble, producing a thick, woolly distortion; turning it counter-clockwise adds brightness and crunch. David Gilmour used a Vintage RAT on portions of The Wall era material. The RAT's clipping circuit produces a characteristic sizzle that sits well in dense band mixes.
