About the Big Muff Pi
The Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi is the most famous fuzz/sustain pedal in history. Its four-transistor circuit produces a massive, sustaining fuzz that never becomes harsh — the characteristic long sustain and slightly compressed character created the sound of a generation of psychedelic, grunge, and alternative rock. David Gilmour's soaring sustain on Comfortably Numb comes from a Ram's Head Big Muff. Jack White and Kurt Cobain both used Big Muffs as primary distortion.
