About the Flying V
The Gibson Flying V was introduced in 1958 as part of the futuristic 'Modernistic' series. Its striking V-shaped body and through-neck mahogany construction create a distinctive biting tone with excellent sustain. Jimi Hendrix played a Flying V at Woodstock, while Albert King built his entire blues vocabulary on one. Kirk Hammett and Dave Mustaine both have signature Flying V models.
