Tone Overview
What Makes This Sound Unique
Early Plini — the sound is more raw and less produced than Handmade Cities, with a vintage-voiced clean tone that shows the jazz-fusion roots before the modern progressive production approach was established. Very natural, unprocessed quality.
Signal Chain
- 1Ibanez guitar (early recording)
- 2Fender-voiced amp or amp sim (moderate clean)
- 3Reverb and light delay
Amp Settings
Early recordings used more basic gear before the Axe-Fx / Strandberg approach was established. The tone is brighter and more "in the room" than later productions — less reverb tail, more direct guitar sound.
Technique
How to Play It
Melodic, spacious phrasing with breath between notes — Blossom shows Plini thinking more like a pianist than a guitarist: the notes are individual events rather than continuous legato flow, each one allowed to decay naturally before the next.
Budget Alternative
Achievable With
Any bright-voiced guitar (single coils or low-output humbuckers) → clean Fender or clean Blues Junior → reverb at medium hall setting → light delay for depth.
