Technique
How to Play It
Slow, sustained chord swells with heavy reverb — Disappearer uses sustained chord voicings that breathe and evolve over 6+ minutes. The alternate tuning makes standard chord shapes into unexpected harmonic territories. Moore uses very slow right-hand strumming during the ambient sections.
Budget Alternative
Achievable With
Jazzmaster or similar offset guitar → Twin Reverb with reverb set high → EHX Big Muff for heavier passages → experiment with D-A-D-G-A-D or drop tunings to replicate the harmonic quality of Moore's custom tunings.
