About the Jazzmaster

The Fender Jazzmaster was introduced in 1958 as Fender's 'top of the line' guitar but found its true audience with surf, alternative, shoegaze and indie rock guitarists decades later. Its floating vibrato and rhythm/lead circuit give it a unique switching system unlike any other Fender, and the slab offset body gives a distinctive aesthetic. Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr and Elvis Costello all defined the Jazzmaster's cultural identity.
