Where You Been's centrepiece — a slow, heavy riff built on a simple three-chord pattern that J transforms into a seven-minute exploration of guitar noise and melody. The tone has maximum Big Muff fuzz saturation but the notes still sing through the distortion, demonstrating J's ability to maintain melodic clarity within extreme fuzz.

Maximum Big Muff fuzz — J uses heavy fuzz sustain for the slow, deliberate riff. The mids are slightly scooped by the Big Muff's inherent mid-cut, but the Sunn amp's large speaker cabinet recovers low-frequency body.

How to Play It

Slow, deliberate riff with extended feedback — the slow tempo of Thumb gives J room for each note to sustain and interact with the amp's feedback threshold. Notes are allowed to bloom into feedback at key moments rather than cutting them short.

Budget Alternative

Achievable With

Jazzmaster or Jaguar → EHX Big Muff Pi (sustain maxed) → large clean amp (Fender Twin, Vox AC30) played very loud → play slowly and allow sustain to develop before moving to next note.
