Stevie Ray Vaughan · Texas Flood · 1983

What Makes This Sound Unique

SRV's most beautiful clean tone — fingerpicked warmth from the neck pickup into the Super Reverb at low gain. The amp adds just enough compression and bloom without overdriving.

This is SRV's clean platform — amp at lower volume than his overdriven tones. The neck pickup stays warm and full without going muddy. A little more spring reverb than usual adds dimension.

How to Play It

Fingerpicking with the thumb handling bass strings and first two fingers on treble — produces a rounder, more piano-like attack than a pick.

Achievable With

Any Fender amp (Blues Junior, Deluxe Reverb) at clean volume, neck pickup, subtle chorus like Boss CE-5.
