What Makes This Sound Unique
The slowest blues SRV ever recorded — eight minutes of pitch-black, swampy slow blues. The tone here is darker and more saturated than the frantic Texas Flood material. String bends hold for so long the note sustain has to match the emotional commitment. The vibrato is wide and slow, almost operatic.

Amp Settings
Bass extremely high — the dark, swampy feel comes from the amp's low-end emphasis. The Tube Screamer at medium gain adds vocal saturation without losing the note weight. Very little treble — this is deliberately dark and brooding.
Technique
How to Play It
Slow vibrato at the very top of long string bends — the emotional peak of each phrase comes from the vibrato, not the bend itself. This takes significant left-hand strength; build up gradually.

Achievable With
Strat neck pickup, bass EQ at 8, any amp with 13-gauge strings. The tone is mostly in the string choice and technique — heavier strings sustain longer and bend with more resistance, which is part of the sound.
