What Makes This Sound Unique
T-Bone's earliest surviving recordings showcase a rawer, less refined version of his sophisticated tone — the ES-250 into a primitive early amplifier produces a more acoustic-leaning sound than later recordings, but the distinctive horn-like phrasing and jazz-influenced approach is already fully formed.

Amp Settings

T-Bone sometimes played guitar behind his head and split the strings with his teeth on stage — the performance athleticism was as much a part of his act as the tone. The 1942 recordings show his jazz vocabulary already fully defining the blues guitar language.
