What Makes This Sound Unique
De Lucía's electric-amplified era — he began using a small amplifier for larger venues in the late 1980s, and by Zyryab the production includes subtle amplification. The core acoustic flamenco tone remains but with more sustain and projection. The album also shows his expanded musical vocabulary incorporating jazz harmony.

Amp Settings
Minimal amplification added to the natural acoustic tone — de Lucía resisted heavy amplification throughout his career, using only enough to project in larger venues. The reverb is very subtle, more a room ambience than an effect. The core tone remains the natural resonance of the flamenco guitar.

By the late 1980s de Lucía had incorporated elements of jazz harmony and Latin music into his flamenco foundation — Zyryab shows the most melodically adventurous writing of his career. The technical demands remain at the highest flamenco standard but the harmonic language is more eclectic.
