How to Play It
Django played with only two functioning fingers on the fretting hand following the 1928 caravan fire — the ring and pinky fingers were paralysed. His adaptation of jazz chord shapes and single-note lines using just index and middle fingers is one of the most remarkable examples of adaptive technique in music history.

A proper Selmer-style Gypsy Jazz guitar (Gitane DG-255, Dell'Arte Anouman) → no amplification or a low-wattage clean amp → Argentinian or similar low-tension strings → proper rest-stroke picking technique. Django's exact tone cannot be replicated on a non-Maccaferri guitar.
